Teams live event license
Live events produced in Teams require you to prepare your organization's network for Teams. Ensure you have correct license assignments for who can create and schedule live events and who can watch live events. Live events policies are used to control who in your organization can hold live events and the features that are available in the events they create. You can use the default policy or create one or more custom live events policies.
After you create a custom policy, assign it to a user or groups of users in your organization. Users in your organization will get the global Org-wide default policy unless you create and assign a custom policy. By default in the global policy, live event scheduling is enabled for Teams users, live captions and subtitles transcription is turned off, everyone in the organization can join live events, and the recording setting is set to always record.How to add Poll to Microsoft Teams Meeting
You can also do this by using Windows PowerShell. For more information, see Use PowerShell to set live events policies in Teams. If you created a custom live events policy, assign it to users for the policy to be active. You can assign a policy directly to users, either individually or at scale through a batch assignment if supported for the policy typeor to a group that the users are members of if supported for the policy type.

For users to schedule events produced with an external app or device, you must also do the following:. At launch you'll be able to opt-in to this experience, in November you'll have to opt-out if you want to continue using Stream, and some time in early we'll require all customers to use OneDrive for Business and SharePoint for new meeting recordings. Ensure users have live event creation permission in Stream.
By default, administrators can create events with an external app or device. Stream administrator can enable additional users for live event creation in Stream. Ensure live event organizers have consented to the company policy set by Stream admin. If a Stream administrator has set up a company guidelines policy and requires employees to accept this policy before saving content, then users must do so before creating a live event with an external app or device in Teams.
Before you roll out the live events feature in the organization, make sure users who will be creating these live events have consented to the policy. Playback of live event videos uses adaptive bitrate streaming ABR but it's a unicast stream, meaning every viewer is getting their own video stream from the internet.

Anyone can attend a Teams meeting or public live event for free - no license is required. Attendees join a Teams meeting or live event by clicking the Join button in Teams or the meeting invitation.
Meeting audio is part of a Teams meeting, but if you want people to be able to dial in to a meeting by phone, you'll need to provide a dial-in number. For the people who will organize, schedule, and host meetings or live events, they'll need one of the Microsoft or Office licenses listed in the table below.
If you're already using Teams, you probably have the license you need for organizing and hosting meetings and live events. A dial plan may also be needed. Produce the live event using Teams, a lightweight option to create the event and invite presenters and panelists to participate on their own devices. Produce the live event using an external hardware or software encoder via Microsoft Stream.
Use this option if you already have a production setup for example, media mixers that supports streaming to an RTMP service. This method is typically used in auditorium events, such as town halls, where a stream from a media mixer is broadcast to the audience. Large live streaming events typically have several people working behind the scenes—the event group —to make them successful.
Schedules a live event and ensures the event is set up with the right permissions for attendees and the event group, who will manage the event. For more info, see the organizer checklist. As a host, makes sure attendees have a great viewing experience by controlling the live event stream. A viewer. Watches the event live or on-demand, using DVR controls, either anonymously or authenticated. To be able to create a live event, a person needs to have the following things.
Your IT admin can provide more information. Permission to create live events in Microsoft Stream for events produced using an external broadcasting app or device. Private meeting scheduling, screensharing, and IP video sharing, turned on in Team meeting policy.
Public events. If an event is public, anyone who has the link can attend without logging in.When you're planning Teams live events to hold large meetings in your organization, there are several factors that you need to consider before starting the setup. The exception to this requirement is guest users can present without a license if the other criteria for guest users is met. A Microsoft Stream license - is required if you are planning to share the content to an external app or device; see Microsoft Stream licensing.
Get started with Microsoft Teams live events
Users won't need a Microsoft Stream license assigned if you want users to only record and download the recordings. This will mean that the recordings aren't stored in Microsoft Stream but are instead stored in Azure Media Services AMS with a day limit before it's deleted. It's not something at this point that an admin can control or manage to include the ability to delete it.
At launch you'll be able to opt-in to this experience, in November you'll have to opt-out if you want to continue using Stream, and some time in early we'll require all customers to OneDrive for Business and SharePoint for meeting recordings. At this time there aren't any Microsoft Small Business plans that can be used to create and hold Teams live events. It's important to know that a Microsoft or Office license is required to participate in a live event as an authenticated user, but this requirement depends on the production method used:.
For more information about licensing, see Microsoft Teams add-on licensing. Non-authenticated anonymous users can't be invited as producers or presenters in Teams live events. As a best practice, we recommend that you create a channel for producers and presenters of the live event so they can chat and share information before the event. Guests who don't have Microsoft credentials won't see the Calendar in Teams. To make it easy for them to join the event, producers can post the event link to the channel.
Microsoft Teams add-on licenses
Presenters can then open Teams, go to the channel, and then click the link to join the event. The following table highlights core capabilities and features offered in live events and how they differ from Skype Meeting Broadcast. To help support our customers, through January 1,we will extend temporary limit increases for live events hosted in Teams, Stream, and Yammer, including :.
Additionally, live events with up toattendees can be planned through the Microsoft live events assistance program. If you want to broadcast a Teams meeting, bringing remote presenters and screen sharing into the event, you can produce your live event in Teams. This method is powered by Microsoft Stream. You can adjust your microphone and camera before joining the event as a producer.
You also have an option to join as an attendee. Just select Join as an attendee instead. You will only join as a producer if you're the organizer of the event or if the organizer assigned this role to you when they scheduled the event. To produce a live event, you need to join the event on the desktop app.
The ability to produce on the web is coming soon! Producers can't blur their backgrounds yet. That, too, is coming soon! If your event is taking place in a large room, you might want to use Auditorium mode to enhance the audio for remote attendees and allow them to hear things like laughter and applause from the live audience. Just turn on the Auditorium mode toggle to enable it. Be sure to test this mode in rehearsal, and, for the best experience, don't use your computer's built-in microphone.
Select your camera feed at the bottom of the screen to preview it in your queue on the left before sending it to the live event on the right. Mute any producers or presenters who aren't actively speaking. If they're not muted, their audio will go live to attendees.
There's a 15— to 60—second delay from the time a media stream is broadcast to when attendees see it. If you stop sharing video by turning off your camera, for exampleeveryone will see Live event will resume in a moment. Otherwise, everyone will see Teams and your selections when you make a change.Add-on licenses are licenses for specific Microsoft Teams features. They give you the flexibility to add features only for users in your organization who need them.
To add a feature, buy one add-on license for each user who will use it. Here's a list of features that you can add with Teams add-on licenses. The add-on licensing options available to you depend on the Microsoft or Office plan you have.
See what add-on licenses you need to get voice features in Teams, depending on the plan you have. Depending on the voice features that you want, we recommend comparing whether it's more cost effective for you to switch to a plan that includes those features. For example, for most large organizations, buying a bundle of software in a Microsoft Enterprise plan will result in lower overall cost.
Typically, when you buy several add-on licenses individually instead of as part of a plan, you may end up with a higher combined cost. If you're a small or medium-sized business less than usersyou have four ways to get voice features:.
